 NANZA Tl;dr

The camera that allows you to immerse yourself back to the present moment. Flashback is the new school camera with all the sentimental perks of a vintage film camera. Live candidly, and cherish the memories by taking one-click takes without the immediate preview or ability to edit on the spot. Click, and keep it moving with your friends.

Summary

What's Old School About It?

  1. The Viewfinder

  2. Winder (yeah the thing that... winds back.. didn't realise it was just called the winder. )

  3. Xenon flash

Dimensions

We’re… not sure. We can only assume it takes on the traditional disposable size of 4.9 x 2.6 x 1.4 inches. Don't quote us. Hopefully the boys will confirm soon.

Two Film Types

  • Classic (inspired by Fujifilm’s Superia film)- All the grain and colours.

  • Mono- Black and white at its best. Gritty, high contrast and detail.

Reward Price

We don’t know how big of a discount we’re getting as the MSRP/ retail price hasn’t been disclosed. However, while the Early Birds have all gone, you can get one Flashback camera for the standard Kickstarter price at $83, $96 for the camera, vegan leather case, and lanyard. While there are other Reward options available, we particularly like the “Best Friends'' package, perfect for gift giving, and maybe a couple’s gift to you and your loved one. CHEESE-Y!

Shipping

Worldwide shipping will be available! At a standard rate of $~27 for many countries, some European and Asian can take advantage of a $~17 fee, while those based in the US can cop the Flashback for just an additional $~7 for delivery.

 What We Love

1. The Ritual

When every shot counts, and you’re not taking 50 photos of the same thing for the “best one”, just because you can.It reduces digital clutter, and allows you to capture the feeling of the moment, not perfection.

2. Legitimate As Digi-Analog Can Be

Access is a funny one with Flashback. While you can transfer images wirelessly through the App, you have to wait a whole day to receive the roll of 27,just like you had to when taking it to a film developer. But unlike the masses of plastic cameras struggling to biodegrade, Flashback is reusable. No environmentalwaste. Fab.

3. Not Just Filters

Each photo in each film is built from individual grains instead of pixels, supporting the authentic ‘retro’ look.

 What We Don't

1. Will The App Outlive The Camera?

While the concept of this camera is great, it would be so heavily disappointing if the app were to malfunction or discontinue to support this edition.

2. How Do We Know We're Getting A Good Deal?

While the Earlybird Kickstarter price at $66 (unfortunately all sold out) is a reasonable price for a reusable device of the good old times, we’re not told how much of a discount we’re getting by supporting Flashback on Kickstarter.

 Is it Worth it?

The Flashback is a concept brought to life that will most definitely by many backers from the 90’s. It’s far more sustainable than the throwaway cameras, it’s nostalgic in all the best ways, and it even looks the part! However, with lacking details (yet to be revealed), and the MSRP undisclosed by the creators, it does make us think, if it’s not such a stark difference, would it be better to wait until it's available on E-commerce so we can guarantee the best quality version? Having surpassed their funding goal by 3 fold, it’s more probable than not that this product will really be in the hands of 1.8k+ backers. Food for thought, but we’ll be honest, it does look too good to surpass.
